Travel Information

Transportation

Use the "Grab" app which is Indonesian Uber and pay with cash for your trips.

Whole day car rental with a driver is around 60,000 IDR (60 AUD, 30 Pounds, Rs.3000). All business in Bali use whatsapp, you can avail local tour operators through us or you can book through the hotel. Please remember to tip.

Currency

Best to order some IDR before you come to Bali then cash out while you are here - lots of cash machines. Cash machines are available at the airport after arrivals or you can ask your taxi to stop at one on the way from the airport to the hotel. Avoid currency exchanges as it is fraught with scamming as everyone gets confused with all the 0's.

Emmas Hot Tip For Currency Guide

Further Afield

We recommend spending sometime in Ubud. It is an hour and a half drive from the hotel  and this can take longer if traffic is bad. The area is in the uplands of Bali and is surrounded by rainforest and terraced rice paddies. You could stay here for a few days before or after the wedding.

Must go if in Ubud:

Monkey Forest : This will be a fun visit, starting off with written instructions on how to behave around the monkeys, there are hundreds of them all around you. Watch the Monkeys play and relax!

Pura Le
mpuyang Luhur Temple : Balis oldest and most highly regarded temples and is called the "Gateway to Heaven"

Tegalaland Rice Terrace : Take your time to explore the cascading rice fields and is also a UNESCO world heritage site.

Gunang Kawi Temple : A 11th century temple spread across the pakerisan river has rock cut shrines. Legend has it that a ferocious warrior named Kebo Iwa carved intricate reliefs with his fingernails.

Local Price of Things

Transfer from airport to hotel : IDR 300,000

Whole day car rentals with driver, excluding tip: IDR 600,000

Bintang Beer : IDR 20,000 - 50,000

The local wine "Two Islands" uses Australian grapes and hence priced slightly higher than beer. Please bring spirits from duty free, 2.25L per persons over 18 years and above is allowed to carry since foreign alcohol is heavily taxed in Indonesia. Please remember that some airports do not let you transit with duty free alcohol and therefore check before purchasing.

Bring a drinking bottle as you cannot drink tap water in Bali unless it has been filtered and most hotels provide a water filter area so you can fill your bottles.
